ALUMNI 

The School’s horizontal alumni network now has over 1000 members. Many hold very influential positions— as public figures, politicians, businessmen and journalists. Over 70 graduates of the School have been members of the Russian Federal Parliament. Over 200 have been elected to city, district and regional governments. A considerable number are in senior administrative positions, including Senior Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, the Head of the Federal Treasury, the heads of the federal agencies, chairs of regional legislative assemblies, vice-governors, city mayors etc (see MSPS Top Appointments).

The School’s alumni (and other subscribers) receive daily bulletins about – among others – modern civil society issues, foreign projects which could serve as inspiration or blueprints in the Russian regions, and information for discussion.

The annual Alumni Association Meeting is usually attended by one of the School’s notable speakers or experts. Such meetings pursue a number of goals, including: to mobilize the alumni community to further extend democratic ideals and values; to strengthen the networking activity and mutual ties between alumni members; to exchange respective experiences of civil society activities and projects; to attract media attention to the event and to the activity of the School, thus improving and strengthening its visibility.

The School has also established Alumni centers in the Russian regions, which develop and implement their own projects such as regional seminars, round tables, discussion meetings with members of the authorities and so on. With the help of the MSPS alumni and experts who participate in these regional activities, the School is able to spread the values it upholds to a wider audience. Some of the MSPS projects are implemented jointly with the Alumni Association.
